What do you expect? Taking a single course and making thousands upon thousands. I am afraid it doesn’t work like that. Blogging is a broad term. You gotta excel on so many things to finally find success in this world.
These four are the pillars of any successful online business. You can’t get away with it.
Writing- If your writing is not entertaining and engaging then nobody is going to reach till the end.
SEO- Don’t you think everybody is doing the basic stuff. Do something that makes Google happy.
Social Media- Millions of posts get shared. What makes you different?
WordPress- This is your digital home. Familiarize yourself with every detail of WordPress.
Blogging is all about learning and adapting. If you are ignoring any of these parts then it’s going to be tough out there.
Most of the gurus offer $500-$1000 course which just scratches the surface and nothing more. I’ve not found a single course which explains all of these topics in great depth (maybe you have).
In this page, you will find 09 training resources to thrive in the blogging world. Whether you are a novice or an expert, these courses will make all the difference in the world.
if you learn and implement the techniques taught in these courses then the results will be far better than you’ve ever expected.
The best part – Some of the courses are absolutely free and some are somewhat free (head over to the next section).
What’s the catch?
I’ve included most of the courses from LinkedIn Learning because it gives you a 1 month free trial period.
The bottom line is if you can complete these courses within 30 days then you won’t be charged a dime.
It has an extensive training list on pretty much everything and as a premium member, you get access to all these courses. There is no limit on how many courses you can take.
If you decide to continue your subscription then you will be charged $29.99/month (Rs 1400 for India) after 30 days.
At this cost, you get access to any course you want and you will also receive certification once you complete the training.
A quick note before we start- Some of these links are affiliate links and I will get a small commission if you sign up for premium membership at no extra cost to you (I totally deserve it). But I’ve only included the ones which I’ve personally taken and found helpful.
Best Writing Courses
As a blogger, the most challenging part is to write content that the reader loves. Though this is true that you don’t have to be a writer to be a good blogger but you do need to efficiently communicate with your audience.
The only way you can do this is by practicing and honing your writing skills. Here are the 3 courses that can take your writing to a whole new level.
Course length- 4h 12m
Shani Raja is a former editor at the Wall Street Journal. I’ve taken this course when I was starting out with my blogging journey.
It is divided into four parts Narrative, Paragraphs, Sentences, and Words. It will teach to write a killer introduction, create punchy sentences and choose the best words in the context. Everything in this course is quality.
The best part about Shani’s courses is that it never ever gets boring. Once you have taken the training and completed all the tasks you will have significantly improved your writing.
Course length- 5h 9m
This is another course from Shani Raja. It will take you deeper into the world of writing. This course will teach you the power of Simplicity, Clarity, Elegance and Evocativeness.
If you take both of the above courses and complete all the tasks then your content will clearly stand out in the crowd.
Whether you are a novice or a professional writer. The tips and techniques thrown by Shani will deeply impact your writing. I can bet that you will encounter a lot of things that you didn’t know beforehand.
Course length- 44m
Headline writing is an art. It serves as a bridge between your reader and your content. If your heading is not catchy then readers won’t take the time to click through it.
This is a short course but very effective. It will provide you with all the tips to craft an attention-grabbing headline. You won’t need more than a couple of days to complete this one. I’ve taken this course thrice and thinking of taking it one more time.
Best WordPress Courses
Course length- 2h
When you first log in to the WordPress dashboard it kinds of looks scary. Even if you are using WordPress for a while there will be few things that you might not know yet.
This comprehensive course from Morten will teach you everything that WordPress offers. Take this one and you will have mastered WordPress in no time.
Course length- 1h 55m
Do you dread the new block editor Gutenberg? Or do you prefer the old classic editor?
If your answer is yes, then I can bet that you haven’t learned Gutenberg yet. Believe me when you have mastered the new block editor you will have gained much more functionality and freedom in your posts.
All you need is to take this course. It will equip you will all the features that Gutenberg provides. In the end, you could decide which one works best for you?
Leveraging social media for your blog
If you are in the digital world there is no alternative to social media platforms. Social media can give you exposure to a whole new audience. With a proper plan, you could see a significant amount of traffic without spending a dime.
For now, I’ve found two quality courses for Pinterest and Twitter. Taking these courses won’t take you more than a week but can significantly help you in building your presence in these platforms.
Course length- 2h 38m
If you are not using Pinterest then you are missing a big part of your traffic. I’ve seen bloggers who are generating a lot of traffic alone on Pinterest (I am still in the process).
Pinterest is all about how creative you are in using visuals. If you persist with the right plan then you can generate a lot of exposure to a new audience.
This course by Megan focusses on building a strong presence on Pinterest. She has shared everything from setting up a business account, pin sharing, gaining followers, etc. Follow along with her and you will have gained a deeper insight on how Pinterest works.
Course length- 2h 12m
Megan is a great tutor when it comes to social media. The course will teach you how to leverage Twitter for your business. You will find many new ways to gain new followers and drive a good amount of traffic to your blog.
Many people have a perception that doing regular tweets is the only way to get some good leads. But this is far from the truth. You need to have a good knowledge of how Twitter works rather than regularly tweeting dry tweets.
